There are different ways that you can opt. to grow your own vegetables and fruits, if you are new to kitchen gardening, we’ve got some DIY tips and tricks for you to remember.
- Find The Perfect Spot
If you have a garden then there’s no need to worry to find a space, or you can also grow inside your kitchen windows, small things like herbs.
If you don’t have any natural light source in your kitchen, use grows lights, these are artificial lights that help in plant growth by stimulating photosynthesis.
- DIY Container
Cut your plastic bottle in half and draw small holes on the bottom for excess moisture retention, make sure to put some pebbles inside the container before adding the soil to prevent excess water drainage. The glass containers and jar should also be filled with pebbles up to 1 inch as they don't have holes in the bottom.
Remember to choose containers that are at least 6 inches and above taller.
- Growing from parts of fruits and vegetables
- Aloe vera: Take a leave of Aloe vera and cut it into small one inch pieces, and place them in a glass container filled with soil, the roots will grow back in a few days and after a few weeks the whole plant will start to root out from that small piece.
- Tomato: Tomato is one of the easiest kitchen plants to grow. You can grow it with seeds, or simply just take a tomato cut it into round slices and place it in the container you want it to grow the plant will sprout in a few days, change the container as the plant grow bigger.
- Cucumber: Take a cucumber, cut out the center part where the seeds are present, remove the seeds carefully and put them in a glass of water, swirl the water, the good seeds will sit in the bottom. Take out the seeds place them on a piece of tissue paper and let them dry. When the seeds are dried put them in the soil one inch apart and you'll have your cucumbers in weeks.

Cut out the fruit you want the seeds of, remove the seeds gently, place the seeds on a clean paper towel, or tissue paper and let them dry.Later on, when the seeds have dried you can sow them in the soil, and voila you will have your plant.
